Provincial Board to hold STL hearing on Oct. 22
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan, constituting as committee of the whole, will hold a public hearing on the proposed operation of Small Town Lottery (STL) in Iloilo province on October 22, 1:30 p.m., at the SP session hall.
Around D’World Gaming Corp. headed by its president Donald Leoy has proposed to operate STL in the province.
Gov. Arthur Defensor Sr. has requested the SP to conduct a public hearing and the result would be his basis on whether to approve the entry of STL.
Vice Richard Gov. Garin, who acts as chairman of the committee of the whole, said they have invited representatives of socio-civic organizations, religious institutions, academe, private groups, and the media.
The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) through Board Resolution No. 1490 dated May 19, 2010 has approved the franchise of Around D’ World Gaming Corp. to operate STL in Iloilo province.
The League of Municipalities of the Philippines-Iloilo Chapter has alsopassed a resolution unanimously endorsing the operator’s proposal in compliance with the PCSO requirement.
The PCSO has required Around D’ World Gaming Corp. to obtain from the Office of the Governor a “Certificate of No Objection” to the resolution endorsing its operation.
Under its franchise, it can operate the STL as a legal and transparent numbers game in all towns of Iloilo province except Iloilo City.
According to the PCSO, the full province-wide operation of the STL will bring a lot of benefits for the government and the public.*
